Paralysis by Perfection

Do you have the type of personality or work style that you strive for perfection in what you do and nothing less will suffice?

Do you sometimes avoid following through on something because you can’t give it 100%, or an A+ effort?

Do you willingly steer yourself away from trying something because you’re worried you won’t be able to excel at it instantly?

I introduce to you – Paralysis by Perfection. We become paralysed and unable to do or follow through on something because we feel we won’t get an A+ grade on it.

It stops us from trying new things or simply taking action in case we aren’t perfect at it.

It may stop you from trying a new workout class, signing up for a road race, or even making small changes to your eating habits unless you can be the absolute best.

It is perfectly ok to want to do your best and to give your best when you are working towards a goal and want to strive towards that A+ standard….

But it’s also ok to do B- (B Minus) work….

Because B- work will still move you in the directions of your goals.

Because B- action is always better than no action.

Imperfect action is still action.

Think progress, not perfection.

Try the new workout. Sign up for that race. Make small changes. Each little step will add up and take you where you want to go if you just allow yourself to move.
